Glenn Makes Me Laugh
Chances are you've seen Glenn's "Bod Rod" in the Church parking lot. Well, this week it is decked out to remember the death of the Chicago Blackhawks. This version of his hearse has been seen in local papers and Global TV after cruising South Fraser Way in Abbotsford! Check out some footage at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDyBIRt4ej0 and http://www.bclocalnews.com/news/120760714.html

Chili Cook-off Coming this Sunday!
I love chili and I"m really looking forward to next Sunday (Aug. 15) when we will have our cook-off. If you didn't get a chance to sign-up, it's okay... you can bring your chli on Sunday. You'll need to do a few things: 1) bring a list of all the ingredients used (for allergy reasons); 2) bring your chili in a crockpot with a ladle; and 3) be prepared to fill out a form that will include your chili's name and whether or not it is spicy.
Everyone in attendance will get sample bowls, a ballot, a dinner roll, and beverages. At the end of the event we'll announce the winners and award prizes. First place will take home the golden ladle. Hope to see you there.

Road Rally Recap
We had our 6th Annual Road Rally today and it was a lot of fun. 11 vehicles, containing about 40 people, put their driving and navigating skills to the test. My team, Santa Fe Sisters (comprised of me, my friend josh, his 2 year old son, and my 3 year old daughter), came 8th... we thought we had it in the bag. In spite of the loss, we had a lot of fun and I got a really sweet cat plate out of the deal (one of our checkpoints was at an antique shop in Ft. Langley... see below). We ended the day with a BBQ and a lot of laughs. Now that I'm over the loss, I can offer a full-hearted 'well done' to the Beisel clan for their victory.

"Family Hockey Night" a Ton of Fun!
Tonight we had our first family hockey night and it was a lot of fun. Just over 40 came out to play an hour of noodle hockey (frustrating, but filled with a lot of laughs) and then an hour of ball hockey... man, am I out of shape! Special thanks to Dave P. and the Clark's for organizing this night.

Sweetheart Sock Hop was a Great Success!
Almost 100 people came out tonight for an evening themed after the 50's. We had good music, good company, and a good time. Youth helped out with childcare and manning the concession (the root beer floats were awesome). Here are some the good things that happened:
- We had fun!
- People that have never stepped into our building came out and had a good time discovering that Christ-followers can have a good time.
- An environment for greater community and relationships was created.
- Our youth got to witness positive relationships and they also made (and continue to make) valuable contributions to the life of our church.
- Funds were raised to help replace broken sound equipment.
- We worked together and pulled off a successful event!
