My Ugly & Beautiful Shoes
Well, it's no secret that I've gained 60 pounds in the last 14 years. I know you're thinking, "Really?! He wears it so well!" ;) It actually never bothered me until yesterday. That's when Steve Witmer (Pastor of Bible Fellowship Foursquare Church in Surrey) shared at the College chapel about his recent health issues and the way in which he now sees his physical health. It was really convicting and inspiring.
My life's diet philosophy has always been, "eat what you want, die like a man" but that's just selfish (it's a slow version of suicide). Steve, 54 years old, told a story of his recent experience where he competed in a cross country half-marathon that went 2,000 feet up a mountain. His story challenged and inspired me. He even showed us the kind of shoes he used and that while others finished the race with blisters and missing toe nails, his new shoes kept his feet feeling good.
So, today, I went over to Valhalla in Abbotsford and picked up the 2012 model of Steve's shoes and I'm ready to roll. Angela thinks their ugly, but I just respond with Isaiah 52:7 "How beautiful ... are the feet of those who bring good news..."

Woohoo! I like those runners actually - they look a little "tron-ish". Wish I could come join you over there on the nice PLBC gym equipment! Can't wait to see my fit brother at christmas!
